Hop on board the ‘Choose Well’ bus to find the right health service for you

People in Birmingham can find out how to choose the best health service for their needs when the 'Choose Well’ bus pulls into the city centre this Wednesday.

The bus will be located near to the Pavillion Shopping Centre on Wednesday 8 January from 10am – 4pm. Staff will be on-hand to give advice about different health services as well as demonstrate the new 'Choose Well’ mobile phone app – the first of its kind in the region.

The app gives users advice on which health service, including pharmacies, GP practices, out-of-hours services, NHS 111 and walk-in centres, is the best option for treating their illness or injury.

As well as helping users decide on the right service, an interactive map also pinpoints the nearest available service to their location, whether they are at home, work or out-and-about.

The app, which has been developed by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across Birmingham, Solihull and the Black Country, makes finding the right health service quick and easy.

Dr Louise Lumley, Secondary Care Redesign Lead for Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group and a GP in Birmingham, said:

“Making the right choice about where to go when you or your family need medical treatment or advice ensures you receive the most appropriate treatment as quickly as possible. However with a variety of services to choose from it’s easy to get confused about where to go.

“By downloading the 'Choose Well’ mobile app you can have peace of mind that all the information you need to make the best choice for you and your family is at your fingertips.”

The app is available to download now on iPhone and Android phones by searching for 'Choose Well West Midlands’.
