Learning disabilities services are provided through a joint commissioning service in Birmingham.
The Birmingham Joint Commissioning Team works using a pooled budget with Birmingham City Council and the three clinical commissioning groups that work across Birmingham – Birmingham CrossCity, Birmingham South Central and Sandwell and West Birmingham CCGs.
We work in this way because it can take more than one organisation to provide all the services people with mental health or learning disabilities need to support them.
With all these organisations working together in the best way, we can better meet the needs of the people who use these services. It also means that we can target services to give the greatest impact on outcomes, bringing innovation, value for money and improved services which cut waste and duplication.
