Birmingham and Solihull CCGs take steps to create new single commissioning organisation by April 2018

The three clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Birmingham and Solihull have agreed to develop a new single commissioning organisation by April 2018, subject to approval from NHS England.

NHS Birmingham CrossCity, Birmingham South Central and Solihull CCGs are undertaking the work in a bid to deliver significant improvements to health and wellbeing for the people of Birmingham and Solihull.

The new organisation will lead the way in developing commissioning reform fit for the 21st century, with radical transformation made possible through shifting resources into prevention, early intervention, communities and primary care. Speaking with one voice for Birmingham and Solihull, the new organisation is looking to lead the way for place-based commissioning, by releasing capacity and expertise to drive continuous improvements to the quality of local NHS services.

NHS Birmingham CrossCity CCG shortlisted for three prestigious HSJ awards

HSJ Awards finalistNHS Birmingham CrossCity CCG has been shortlisted for three 2016 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards.

Dr Masood Nazir, the CCG’s Information Lead, has been nominated for Clinical Leader of the Year; Your Care Connected has been nominated for Enhancing Care by Sharing Data and Information; and Information Management & Technology Support Officer Kim Britton has been nominated as Rising Star.

The awards, which recognise, celebrate and promote the finest achievements in the NHS, will take place on 23 November at Intercontinental O2, London.

AGM success for NHS Birmingham CrossCity CCG

NHS Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group successfully held its third Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday (6 July) at Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Over 160 people attended the event, enjoying a packed health fair with a variety of stallholders ranging from St Basil’s, the British Red Cross, Forward Carers Birmingham, Birmingham LGBT, John Taylor and St Mary’s hospices amongst others.

Local people are invited to attend NHS Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 6 July. This year’s event will take place from 6-9pm at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Westbourne Road, Birmingham B15 3TR.

The AGM gives people living in Birmingham, as well as other stakeholders, the opportunity to find out about our priorities for the future and help celebrate CrossCity’s achievements.

Birmingham CrossCity CCG wins HSJ value in healthcare award

HSJ AWARDS WINNERSNHS Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group has won the Value and improvement in the use of information technology to drive value in non-clinical support services category at the 2016 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Value in Healthcare Awards.

The awards, which took place on 24 May in Manchester, recognise and reward outstanding efficiency and improvement by the NHS. Finalists demonstrated that they are striving to improve value and efficiency in healthcare and have been judged to be leading the way in this increasingly important area. The judges said they were impressed with the scale of this project, noting it was hugely ambitious and compatible with new models of care.
