NHS Birmingham CrossCity Clinical Commissioning Group’s Information Lead, Dr Masood Nazir, has won the prestigious Chief Clinical Information Officers (CCIO) award for Clinical Informatics Leadership.
The eHealth Insider (EHI) Awards are the UK's only dedicated healthcare IT award scheme and took place on 29 September at the Lancaster Hotel in London.
Dr Nazir said: “I am delighted to have won this award. As a GP with over 15 years’ of experience, I am passionate about using technology to help improve services for all patients.”
As well as working for the CCG, Dr Nazir is also a GP at Hall Green Health. The award recognises his work as the National Clinical Lead for the Patient Online programme, which sees him manage a clinical team across the country which exceeded the target of 95% of practices being able to offer patients online record access.
As Clinical Lead he has spearheaded the largest Virtual Desktop Infrastructure programme involving over 100 practices, which aims to improve patient care by allowing doctors and nurses in GP practices in Birmingham to access their computer desktop securely from anywhere, and on any mobile device with an internet connection, such as smartphone, laptop or tablet.
Dr Nazir, as Clinical Lead, has also led one of the largest record-sharing programmes in the country – Your Care Connected – which brings together key stakeholders (including three Local Medical Committees) and initiated record-sharing for 1.8 million patients in four CCGs, looked after by 11 provider organisations.
