The People’s Health Panel is an interactive and exciting new initiative. It gives the people of Birmingham, the chance to truly be involved in shaping the health services that they use.
We realise that local people's views are essential in ensuring that the CCG, and local people from Birmingham, work together to develop and shape appropriate health services and improve people’s health. Therefore, the CCG is looking for a range of people from across our great city, from all walks of life and backgrounds. No experience is needed; all we ask for is an interest in the NHS and a passion for making things better for Birmingham.
Being part of the People’s Health Panel can involve as much as being involved in a workshop, or as little as completing an occasional survey. So people are really not expected to commit lots of time, just what suits them. The broad range of activities for the Panel will include:
- Actively participating in surveys and other health-related activities
- An introduction to the work of the local NHS
- Keeping you up-to-date on local health services
- Giving your views on a range of health-related services
- Being part of focus group discussions and workshops
Dr Gavin Ralston, a local GP in Harborne and Chair of Birmingham CrossCity CCG, said: “The People’s Health Panel represents a significant development in the way that we are able to work with local people. It’s for Birmingham people who are passionate about health issues and would like to make their views count in a way that hasn’t been done before.
“We want people to feel more connected with the health services they use and much more influential in the way they are developed, as after all they affect them, and their families.”
