Independent Vice Chair and 3x Independent Members

Description

Independent Vice Chair and Members for Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group

NHS Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will be the largest CCG in the country when it is established in April 2018. It will bring together NHS Birmingham CrossCity, Birmingham South Central and Solihull CCGs to be the clinically led statutory body responsible for planning and commissioning health care services in the Birmingham and Solihull area serving over 1.5 million people.

Our focus will be on improving the health of people living in our communities, ensuring access to the best quality services. To achieve this we will be working directly with local people to ensure that services are shaped by them and reflect their needs. We will also work with local authorities, local healthcare professionals, voluntary organisations and other stakeholders.

What are we looking for and what can we offer?

As Independent Vice Chair, your focus will be strategic and impartial, providing an external view of our work. You will work closely with the Clinical Chair to ensure that the CCG exercises its functions effectively, efficiently, economically, with good governance and in accordance with the terms of the CCG Constitution as agreed by its members. You will share responsibility with the other directors who are members of the Governing Body for the decisions made by the Governing Body and for success of the CCG in leading the local improvement of healthcare services for patients.

Our Independent Members will also hold a critical role and will bring specific expertise and experience in governance, finance and patient and public engagement, gained at or near to Board level in the public, private or voluntary sectors. These roles are key to ensuring that the CCG acts in the best interests of the health of its patient population at all times and that it commissions high quality services, which are responsive to the views of local people, improve patient outcomes, secure the best use of public money and are in line with the NHS Constitution.

Ideally you will live within the Birmingham and Solihull CCG geography or you will be able to demonstrate that you have an affiliation with the area.  Please note that we can pay local expenses only.

The time commitment for the Vice Chair is approximately 2 days p/w and for the Members 2/3 days p/m. Some time commitment may be required in the evenings.

The tenure for the roles will be 2-3 years, after which the posts will be subject to reappointment.

The closing date is 24 November 2017

The interviews will be on 6 December (Vice Chair) and 18 December (Members)

If you would like to discuss these roles please contact Jenny Adrian or Rhiannon Smith - both of whom can be reached via 020 7935 4570.
